Seems like a good product, do not like that I cannot use my rear window wiper and if tail gate door on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee is open too long the weight of the rack comes down, which it did on my head. It was pretty easy to install and take off.I would recommend to someone else.

Per the warnings in the installation instructions, the rear hatch or a trunk lid should not be opened while the bike rack is installed. The hatch supports are only designed to maintain the weight of the rear hatch and often cannot support more weight than that. If you are looking for a bike rack that does not have to be taken off every time you want to access your cargo area, most trailer hitch mounted bike racks are designed to tilt away to provide full access to the hatch or truck. I have linked all of our hitch bike racks for you.

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla, once I found the preset measurement on the brand’s site to adjust the rack, this was very easy to clip to the trunk.

by:

Bought this for my 2019 Toyota Highlander. Installation was easy, especially after watching the etrailer video. I've had the rack for about a year and it's held up and worked well the dozen or so times I've used it. I have had zero issues even on very long road trips (NYC to Outer Banks, NC). Folds up nice and tight when not in use, which is great for storage. Would recommend.

It took me 40-50 minutes to assemble and attach to my Hyundai Kona. Seemed to be pretty secure every time I checked it. Used it the first time to bring my bike home from the repair shop. Something was banging while I drove which worried me. Turns out it was the bike banging against the equipment. That won't work so I purchased some zip ties to hold it in place better. Haven't tried that out yet, though. The rubber straps that hold the bike on are very tough to fasten. The opening is round and you have to try and put it around a totally different shape to fasten. The rubber is very thick and I believe I broke all my nails. I may depend on the zip ties to use if I can't get the rubber fastened. The unit slipped a few inches right when I started out and half-way covered up my rear view camera. I'm not sure how to keep it from slipping since my vehicle doesn't have a "shelf" to sit it on. I will only be using it for short trips since I would always be worrying about the bike falling off.

by:

Used it one time on my BMW X3 and the back up camera could not be disarmed so alarm would go off continuously so after about 300 feet went back and never used it again. A bmw problem for sure

You can manually switch off the camera. Just check your owners manual for specific details on your yearmakemodel

Great rack. Fits my Nissan Rogue Sport perfectly. Took me a while to attach it to the trunk as the instructions weren't very comprehensive. The red knobs for adjusting arms sometimes get stuck, so it can slow you down adjusting the arms. But overall it's a pretty study rack and so far held well and didn't get lose after travelling from NJ to TX.

I went on a 7 months cross country trip with my bike on the back and the rack did a great job holding the bike. It kept a steady and tight grip. One rubber tightener with holes broke up as I used it a lot and in cold weather. I just took off the spare rubber band from the second bike set as I only transport one bike. My trunk glass got a scratch line from constant contact with the rack but its kind of expected as dirt and dust get in between the rubber bar and the trunk window. Wipe the bar and the glass before every installation.

Easy to install. Holds my mountain bike in place well, no issues.

Ooo! A mountain bike, eh? Do you have any favorite trails you'd recommend?

by:

We purchased the Hang Out to expand our biking options while camping.

Several years ago we purchased a Jack-It Aero carrier from e-Trailer to carry bikes on our TAG. It's a great option for transporting bikes T/F camp ground. But what do you do if the bike trails are a distance from where you’re camping? Enter the Hang Out. It takes up minimum space, mounts quickly to the Jeep and off we go. Bonus: We jettisoned a bulky, expensive hitch-mounted carrier and use the Hang Out for local bike excursions.

by:

Worked like a charm on my daughter’s 2025 Versa.

by:

Easy to use selection process.
Arrived
quickly. With no issues.
Installed rather easy, was a bit confused by the directions, but called the help line and problem solved quickly!

After being told that a specific trunk bike rack would fit my car I was not happy. However, I was able to return that rack and replace it with one that "was" compatible with my car, a 2014 VW CC. The customer service agent, Dellion P was extremely helpful!

I ordered this for my 2019 Nissan Leaf and tried installing it this morning. It was recommended by etrailer for my vehicle. The big problem is that the lower hooks that are supposed to attach to the bottom of the rear door are too curved to fit into the Leaf's door groove along the bottom when the door is closed. You may have to open the rear door a bit to get them to fit which would be a hassle. It looks like this will work but if it does not I will have to return it. Even the non-curved hooks do not work when the rear door is closed. You can see from the picture the problem with the hooks with the Nissan Leaf rear hatch door. They are to flat on the back to fit into the groove at the bottom. Otherwise, it seems to be a good bike carrier. I just wish it fit better.

Yakima does confirm the HangOut2 Bike Rack as a fit for your 2019 Leaf. Sometimes the trick to getting the hook installed is to find a different spot between the hatch and the bumper that the hook will more easily fit in between and then moving the hook into the correct position for installation.

by:

Put rack on my 2015 Ford Escape and when I tried to open the rear door the clamps bent the door metal. I cannot use this on my car .
The brackets are to thick to fit into the openings, both top and bottom
The bike rack is useless on my car as it was sent to me

If you experience difficulty installing the hooks, Yakima recommends placing them in the widest portion of the seam then sliding them where needed. In the instructions, Yakima states that the vehicle trunk or hatch should not be opened with the rack in place or the vehicle could be damaged.

by:

The only negative is that the "Bike Safety Strap" was not included in the box.
Beyond that the rack was in good condition and fit well on my car.

by:

It was really good
Held two bikes (one
mountain and one road/ mountain hybrid) from LA to flagstaff AZ
Ab a 8 hour drive and no problems
Had to tighten once or twice but never pulled over to do so, only checked on it regularly when getting gas.
Good product.

by:

It does the job. Kept my bike safe and intact. No play whatsoever once installed properly. The only con I have is that it can only fit 1 mountain bike even though it is listed for 2. The arm is too short for 2 full size Mtb.

by:

It fits really well on my Jeep Renegade. I watched an etrailer video before I attached it. It took me about 20-25 minutes to figure it out, but now that I know, next time will be much easier. Thanks etrailer.com!

by:

Shipping was fast and I liked etrailer's videos showing how this is installed and how to operate it.

by:

Very sturdy once I got it strapped on my 2013 MINI. It was not super easy but the instructions were understandable. My only issue was one of the rubber straps broke as I was tucking the excess straps.

by:

Very good product! Installation was easy.
For
Scion Tc cars, make sure to not hook the upper strap on the glass!, or you run the risk of breaking the rear window! Just "anchor" it like how the instruction said and it would work fine.

The rack fits 2 road bikes, but theyre very tight, make sure they're set up properly on the rack. The only thing is Im not sure if it will hold 2 bigger size bikes, other than that, I would highly recommend this rack! Does the job good.

by:

I bought this trailer to put on my Kia Soul. I use the rack several times a week and have had it for a year. I mostly just carry one bike at a time but occasionally have carried two bikes. It's been great - easy to remove the rack from the car when I need to, easy to load the bike and strap it in and then take it off. Great purchase.

by:

Received on time, works well.

No problems, functions well, great bang for the buck!

by:

Very nice, works well. The only thing that was an issue was with the "Anchor" part of assembly. The straps it came with were 2-3 ft. too short. So I had to replace/substitute my cargo straps for the Yakima top straps. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with this item.

When I started the search for a bike rack, I was so disappointed and upset to hear that I would need to install a hitch and spend even more money to buy another bike rack for my 2016 jeep renegade. I ordered this bike rack with a little hope but got a huge surprise! Not only is it super convenient and easy to install but I can fully use my trunk and not spend a ton of money!

  • Bike Rack Solution for Carbon Frame Bike Transported by 2011 Mercedes E550 Convertible
Since you have a carbon framed bike you really will need to go with a hitch mounted bike rack that only touches the tires. Also the benefit will be that no painted surfaces on your vehicle will be touched by the rack so you wouldn't have to worry about damage there either. So for a hitch you'd need the Curt # C11340 which is a confirmed fit. For a bike rack I really like the Thule Helium 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TH44VR.
